Designing for Eastside Light
May 9, 2026

Light is the first material we work with, and on the Eastside it has a specific character. Long shoulder seasons, low winter sun, and broad reflective skies shape how every surface reads.
Cooler grays that look elegant in a showroom can feel flat here. We tend toward whites with a touch of warmth, oak tones that lean honey rather than ash, and fabrics with a visible weave to catch the soft light.
Window treatments are planned to filter, not block. Sheer linen at the head of the window keeps privacy without flattening the view, and heavier drapery is reserved for bedrooms where blackout is genuinely useful.
The goal is interiors that read beautifully in November and in July, without leaning on artificial light to do the work.
