A Capitol Hill Pied-a-Terre, Reimagined

The brief was specific. A small apartment, used primarily in the evenings, that needed to feel generous and personal without sacrificing function.

We treated the main room as a single composition: a low slung sofa anchored against a custom plaster wall, a compact dining table that doubles as a desk, and a galley kitchen tuned for cooking for two.

Lighting carried much of the atmosphere. Layered table lamps, a wall mounted reading sconce, and dimmable downlights let the room shift from focused work in the afternoon to soft conversation after dark.

Storage was hidden in plain sight. Custom millwork around the perimeter absorbed a year of belongings without ever announcing itself.
